Andrea Lötscher, Social Anthropologist (M.A.) and Documentary Filmmaker

In 2001 I finished my studies of Social Anthropology at the WWU Münster with a Masters degree (M.A.). My masters thesis was about a healing ritual in Sri Lanka, showing how a person needed to re-connect all relationships within society and with the cosmos to be healed.

In 2007, I founded mondrosen.dokumentarfilme and have been working as a freelance filmmaker ever since. BALTIC HEALING is my second feature-length documentary film.

Together with Ilga Gavare, I organize and lead Pirts and Amanita rituals in Dortmund. Through my own personal healing journey, I have learned to hold space for people who are embarking on their own inner journey.

In 2024 I started studying Modern Matriarchal Studies at Akademie HAGIA. Currently I am researching and writing about matriarchal elements in the Latvian Healing Tradition of the Pirts. And a second film about the Pirts is in the making.

I am married and the mother of an adult son.
